The title is mysterious. What is it ... ? Those tones look like REAL B & W film - wonderful shadow, and I like the narrow frame too.

@Sidonie: Cheers Sidonie, it's a title of a song by the Philadelphia Experiment, it just seemed to link for me.
first of all, i really like the shadow of the tree. and it's always better to have people in the shot than not (my opinion there), but these 2 characters aren't doing it for me. how can i explain? what do they have to do with rest of pic? what are they doing? just walking? that's not very interesting. sorry to be negative. For example, your post of a few days ago of the men under the bridge was great because those guys fit into the overall framework of image. Here they seem to be there for no reason. they're not even looking at the tree/shadow. i'm honest with you because, based on what i've already seen, i believe you are very talented.

on second glance, maybe the man on the left IS looking at the shadow. oops. :-)

@Zach Siebert: Thanks for the feedback Zach, your input is always appreciated whether it be negative or positive. You raise a good point, and i’m certain the guy on the left hasn’t acknowledged the shadow because he was so engrossed in conversation. I shot this scene from a number of angles with and without people. I ultimately went with this one because because the people add a sense of scale, and I liked the way their shadow didn't match up to the tree, yet at the same time they are in an entirely man-made environment of brick and stone. I totally see your point of view, the image does work without the people in it; and they do take away from the shadow which in essence is the subject. Cheers once again, constructive feedback is always welcome!
An interesting composition ! I like the strong game of the shadows!

Great shot mate. That shadow looks really cool. You also caught the guy searching in his nose by the looks of it.

Nice one too! Have another shadow posted tomorrow and that one is exactly similar to yours. I like the blackness of your tree really makes it stand out in an extra dimension. Couldn't get that effect with mine, to many parasite shadows and didn't want to convert it in bw.

nice shadow, the trunk of the tree on the ground looks like the finish line for some races!

Love the shadow. Very creative idea!

That shadow is really powerful (if that makes sense.) Its almost like a physical presence they're about to bump into, made all the more real by the guy looking at it. Crackin' shot!

simplement magnifique

I'm with Stu: This is a crackin' shot!

I'm with Stu, too--the shadow of the tree really looks SOLID, especially the rail thin trunk. What it looks like is that they are real people about to walk into a Shadow-Play, about to be trapped in that big, fluffy web of leaves. Kind of a Peter Pan moment, when the shadows separate from the people and have a life of their own.
...Will they walk away shadowless? * ominous music*
