Duncan Galbraith from kyoto, JapanDamn I love the colours of your urban shots. It's a fine 1st film update. I find the hues really interesting, the wall facing us seems to posess a redish tint while around the corner the greens dominate. Its very nice. Was this manipulated at all to get that effect or was it there in the raw state? Either way, I like it. 4 Feb 2007 11:23am @Duncan Galbraith: Cheers Duncan, I did some some colour correction after scanning the negative into Photoshop but didn't work on it as much as I usually do for digital. Thanks for the catch-up! Untitled from Kyoto, JapanThis is a wonderful capture. A gritty urban feel to it. 4 Feb 2007 11:40am Stu from Kyoto, JapanLovely composition and tones here Chris. A superb first post with film. Looking fwd to your future posts in this medium, about which I know absolutely nothing! Good on you for taking on the challenge! 4 Feb 2007 12:17pm @Stu: Thanks Stu, not all the pictures came out as well as this one, it'll probably be a few more rolls before I completely know what i'm doing! Alfredo J. Martiz J. from Tokyo, JapanReally nice scene Chris, I think the composition of the scene is really nice and the lighting is great, I am forward to see your other photos of that site! 4 Feb 2007 1:38pm Paul Ricciardi from West Hartford, United StatesThis is nice, the composition and angle is great here. Isn't film wonderful!!?? I love it...I've always had a continuing love affair with film. Lol. I love the tones here in this shot, were you using tungsten corrected film outside? Sometimes if you use film corrected for one type of light in another type of light you get some really cool effects and lighting. For example, Fuji daylight corrected film shot under flourescent light yields teal light, very cool stuff that I've had some fun with. 4 Feb 2007 3:50pm @Paul Ricciardi: Thanks Paul, I must say it has been a lot of fun - i'll try to shoot on film for the forseeable future until i'm comfortable with it. This roll was shot on reguar Fuji which had expired, saturating the colours a little more than usual I think. Using light-corrected film in different conditions sounds great, i'm going to have to try it out. Damon Schreiber from Toronto, CanadaNice dreamy effect. Looks like someone's fond memories of prison. I'm wondering if it was soft from the camera, from the scanning, or introduced in photoshop. 4 Feb 2007 9:27pm Michael from Glasgow, United KingdomThis is great. The colours are superb as is the light burst. What type of camera have you been experimenting with, as the soft focus looks great (unless it is a bit of digital wizardary). I'm looking forward to seeing more. 4 Feb 2007 10:45pm @Michael: Cheers Michael. The soft focus around the edges is the effect of using a wide angled-lens. I'm using a Minolta XG-M. H.O from Victoria, CanadaVery nice Chris. Ireally love this atmosphere and don't worry that dust. 5 Feb 2007 8:46am sim from Melbourne, AustraliaNice one. The colours on the scanner are really unpredictable aren't they? I'm gonna do some testing of sun shots with and without a UV filter. You've inspired me to go back to film. 7 Feb 2007 4:52am Visions by Dean Christopher. from Cardiff, United Kingdomcool mate...love the Sunburst! 8 Feb 2007 10:00am Michelle Bialowas from Melbourne Victoria, AustraliaDitto to the above comments. 14 Feb 2007 2:17am |
