I had to look through my photography lecture notes to find this, but you've gotta check out David Hockney. His photographic work is amazing. He just walks back and forth takes dozens of shots till he gets the right collage of perspective. I'm sure this would be easier with digital and would suit your style, except more your mosaic than collage.
